Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is one of Botswana's well known tourist destinations,in fact, one could say you haven't been to Botswana until you have seen Okavango Delta! It is the world's largest in-land delta and it covers about 17000 square km of land!Tourists flock here every year to come and see the wide variety of plants and animals that reside here at the delta.Lions,Buffalos,Elephants are some of the animals one could look foward to seeing when visiting the place. If you are more of an adventure person you could go for a wild ride in a mokoro(small boat) which is manually driven by a boatman usin a long stick. The mokoro is a mode of transport native to the Bayei tribe who are the native people that originate from that place.Basket weeving is one of the main human activities practiced around the area.A number of safari lodges and camps have been established in and around the area so as a tourist you wouldn't have to worry about where to stay when you're at the place.Trually the Okavango delta is a God given blessing to Botswana so i would recommend anyone visiting the country to just pass by the place to experience all these fascinating natural beauty for themselfs.

Oscar:The angel of death

Adapted as a small kitten by the staff of Steere house nursing and rehabilitation centre in Province,Rhode Island, now two years old,Oscar has been empowered with an amazing gift.Everyone at the centre refers to Oscar as though they are reffering to a human being and i got to admit,he deserves that respect.Every morning he will get up and go around checking in on the patients and nurses know that if you see him staying too long at a patients'bed and not wanting to bulge, the time has come for that patient. They will start calling up the close relatives of that particular person so they could at least have the chance to say goodbye. It is amazing how a cat can be entrusted with such an amazing gift of being able to predict when someone is about to pass away. Its no wonder a local hospice awarded him with a plaque to honouner him for the amazing gift he has.So far he's been able to predict the deaths of twenty patients. To the people at the hospital,Oscar is a true champ!!

MY FIRST TIME...??

They say first experiences are always the best but in my case,i honestly disagree with that statement.Ever since i was little i have always wondered what the world outside was like.I'd watch TV and see many different countries being advertised and i'd think to myself "wow!i want to go there!"Even my parents were always pushing me to work hard at school because they wanted to see themselves one day taking me to the airport going to school abroad.Indeed it has happened alright, but the outside so far has not turned out to be as i have always seen it to be on TV.When i left Botswana to come here to Malaysia,i was very excited;1.it was my first time to board a plane;2.it was my first time to go abroard. We had been told that Malaysia was so great,so peaceful e.t.c.Everything about Malaysia was just good good!Ten hour flight and we were in Malaysia. The first thing that i noticed when we arrived at the airport that contradicted the picture that was painted in our minds was the weather. When you are inside the airport building you would think that everything was okay because of all the air conditioners regulating the temperature inside,go outside...!It was so hot and humid i could hadly breath, thoughts of boarding the next plane back even started crossing my mind.We were taken on a brief tour around and yes some of the beauties that we were told about i saw but then i noticed another thing that we definately not told to expect in this 'good good' country. You'd be walking around the mall and when they turn around and see you they'd pace up as if a lion was behind them or something..?I decided to ignore this because i thought it was probably just me imagining things.A few extra nights passed and i saw that this was something that was still existing in some countries.Who would have thought in this day and age there would still be racists around!I mean,u'll be boarding the school bus and there you see a seat next thing somebody stands up when they realise you're coming for it and prefer to stand all the way as long as they are not sitting next to you?Well, thats another challenge i'v learnt to live with about this country.I'm not saying that everyone here is like that, but those kind of people are there!Well, i guess this are just things i should just learn to live with and continue with my life here in Malaysia.I got four full years to spend here and if i dwell much on the negative things about this country my studying here won't prosper.

WEALTH(Money aint a thing...??)

One thing that i have learnt in life is that life is tough without money. Many people refer to it in many different ways;Paper, cheddar, the green leaf...e.t.c but no matter how you refer to it,never believe anyone who tells you money is nothing or as we like to put it in slang "money aint a thing."That phrase is just a bunch of lies coming from broke people trying to make themself's feel better.I for example used to have a lot of money not very long ago.My parents had long lectured me to spend my allowance wisely when i arrive here in Malaysia. All Batswana students studying here in Malaysia were given around P19000(roughly around RM9000) as there allowance t0 carry them for three months.Yes the money looks like it would last a lifetime when you look at it in writing but wait until your first withdrawal from the A.T.M...!!You will ask yourself wether you ever had RM9000 in your account or wether the bank is swindling you!The money will start flying off the tip of your fingers in ways i cannot describe.Every day a bus picks us up from where we stay and takes us to the mall,at around 18:30pm and on almost each of those days i'd make sure i left with that bus. When i passed by a store and saw something i liked i wouldn't even hesitate for a second,i bought!I bought everything from clothes to tech-gizmos and when i was done with my shopping i'd end it off with a meal from mcdonalds. For about three weeks i didn't even buy food to cook at home.I'd have a take away away for breakfast, lunch and supper. When i saw my friends making their groceries and buying gas so they could start cooking at their houses i'd just think to myself "i don't need to do that!I got money!Where has all that money gone right now?Going to the mall is now my worst nightmare!Right now i have less than a quater of the original money we were given yet we have like two more months before we can start being given our allowance on a monthly basis. If i managed to extinguish more than three quaters of my allowance in like three weeks, how the hell am i going to survive on the remaining one quater for two months!I don't even want to face an ATM right now.I got to watch every single RM1 in my wallet.People, money is a thing and life's tough without it,believe me!

my english experience

I have always liked English since primary school, from the teachers to the subject itself.Even my results showed that i had a passion for the subject.Things only started to change course when i started junior school. The teacher wasn't that bad, just that her style of teaching was very boring to the extent that you would just fall asleep before she even proceeded with her schedule for the day.But nevertheless i still managed to get good grades come the final exam. All along i had though my junior school teacher was boring but little did i know what senior school had in store for me.The first few introductory lessons were not that bad, with her passing jokes every now and then during the lessons. We wrote tests every month which were used to judge wether a student really understood what was being said in class or they were just pretending. We did fine for the first few months but things started to change course during the most crutial hour of our senior time. Her teaching style just started to bore us.She was teaching us like she was teaching a primary student,i mean, even a toddler wouldn't laugh to the jokes she passed in class.Even though our marks started to drop badly,no light showed her that maybe something was wrong with her teaching, she just proceeded with it.Every time i looked at the timetable and saw that English was there i would just get turned off.I lost interest to the extent i did't even care anymore wether i failed anymore. When the monthly results came and i had failed i would just fold up the paper and throw it away. That was the end of me as far as English was concerned,my marks kept going up and down.Even though i credited it in my final BGSE exam,it was not the grades i had wanted to earn.If my primary school teacher had seen them she would have been so disappointed in me.
